Sports Performance

Sport is a field that continues to evolve in the UK as we push the boundaries of our physical and mental abilities to break records, run faster, jump higher and win more. We look to every aspect of an athlete’s lifestyle – training, tactics, diet, fitness and psychology to try to determine what can make them the best.  Often the difference between winning and losing, gold or silver, will be a fraction of a second or a centimetre.

Much research in sports performance points to the importance of mental abilities as well as physical ones. In order for an athlete to succeed they need to have the right mental state, confidence and focus, as well as the right training regime.  Hypnosis has been used for many years as a performance enhancing tool. As far back as the 1950s the Russian Olympic team were experimenting with hypnosis to determine how it could help their team’s medal tally. In today’s sports world, many of our elite performers like Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and Andre Agassi, use hypnosis techniques to help them achieve their full potential.

Hypnosis is now often used as a way to prepare an athlete before a competition. Using tools such as guided relaxation, breathing techniques, positive suggestion and visualisation, I will work with you to ensure you are mentally ready and fully focused in the moment of the competition.

I often combine my experience of working with children and teens and in the sports performance field, to tailor my sports hypnosis work to fit young athletes.
